Lake Malawi




Malawi is located in Southern Africa and is bordered by Zambia to the West, Tanzania to the North and East, and Mozambique to the South. It's capital City is Lilongwe. With a population of approximately 12 million, Malawi is one of the more densely peopled countries of this part of Africa. Most of the population is rural, living largely in fascinating traditional villages. Its economy is heavily dependent on agriculture and fishing.

Malawi is a landlocked Country with varying terrain across it. It has main highland areas of Nyika and Viphya Plateaus to the North and other parts of the country, with the highest elevation point on Mount Mulanje called Sapitwa (3002m). Most low lying areas are found along the lake Shore, with lowest elevation point located at the junction of the Shire river and the international boundary with Mozambique (37m).


Lake Malawi is not really a safari destination but is especially attractive for those who want time out at the beach after a thrilling game safari and who like outdoorsports on a tropical island with beautiful beaches and crystal clear fresh water which is filled with numerous of colorful tropical fish. In addition to Lake Malawi, not far from the country's western border lies one of the continent's greatest game reserves, Zambia's South Luangwa National Park. An unique opportunity to combine your adventurous safari with an relaxed tropical beach holiday.

At about 110km south of Club Makokola along the banks of the Shire River - or to Boadzulu Island in the southern most part of the Lake Malawi National Park and home to many birds, monitor lizards and other reptiles or charter a boat or even a plane or enjoy the wide range of sporting activities on offer or just be curious, finish a book, learn to scuba dive or tie a pareo round your hips.
